✨ What About Me?

New on the Blog

This week, I’m reflecting on a message that stirred my heart: “What About Me?” — a sermon from Fairfax Church exploring the story of the prodigal son’s brother.

It’s a reminder that God’s generosity doesn’t run out—and we don’t have to measure our worth by someone else’s blessing.

💛 Watch the full video and read my thoughts on learning to marvel, not measure.

Learning to Marvel, Not Measure

Scripture: Luke 15:11–32

Sometimes, it feels like everyone else is getting the celebration.
Everyone else is receiving the blessing.
Everyone else is being noticed, invited, loved.

And we’re left standing in the field, asking the question no one likes to admit:
“What about me?”

In Luke 15, the prodigal son returns home, and the father throws a lavish feast. But this message isn’t about the younger brother. It’s about the older one.
The one who stayed.
The one who worked.
The one who quietly wondered if faithfulness was worth it.

When he sees the celebration, he refuses to go in. His father comes out and pleads with him. And the son’s heart spills out in frustration:

“All these years I’ve been slaving for you... yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends.”

But the father responds with a truth so tender it stops me in my tracks:

“Son, you are always with me, and everything I have is yours.” (v.31)

🌿 God is Generous — Even When We Forget

There are blessings we didn’t even think to ask for that God has freely given us.
Peace when we should have lost our minds.
Provision when the numbers didn’t add up.
Mercy that covered our mistakes.

Yet, sometimes we miss it—because we’re too busy measuring what He’s given everyone else.

✨ If Your Focus is on Others, You’ll Miss What God Has Given You

Comparison doesn’t just steal your joy—it blinds you to your inheritance.
While we’re busy asking, “What about me?” God is whispering, “Everything I have is already yours.”

🌸 Marvel. Don’t Measure.

What would happen if we stopped tallying blessings and started marveling at them instead?
If we looked at God’s generosity not as a limited resource but as evidence that He is good to all His children—including us?

Because comparison breeds discontent.
Discontent breeds complaint.
And complaint turns into judgment.

🕊 Don’t Miss the Feast

Don’t miss how generous He has been to you simply because of how generous you see He has been to someone else.

When we trust His faithfulness, we can celebrate the wins of others without questioning our worth.
We can rejoice over someone else’s miracle knowing we serve the same miracle-working God.

He has been faithful all along.
And He is faithful still.

This week, let’s marvel instead of measure. Let’s thank Him for our portion—and trust Him with the rest.
